L O V E H A P P Y

Lately, I've been doing personal audits on the people I have around me. It's refreshing to have people around who genuinely want the best for you, even when you don't know what that is for yourself. Yesterday, I casually told one of my girlfriends to remind me to blog today, so she texts me a picture of the reminder she set on her phone, lol!

For this look, I used the Juvia's Place The Zulu Eyeshadow Palette. At the time, Jeremy's dad and little sister were visiting so I thought it would be fun to let the kids choose the colors for the look. I think they did a pretty good job. In the end, we were left with a bold, colorful look. For foundation, I used the Sephora foundation [in Deep 65] with their concealers [#19 and #20] to highlight and contour and this blingtastic highlight is Rose Gold by BECCA. To finish the look, I lined my lips with MAC's Nightmoth liner and topped them with Physicians Formula liquid lipstick in the shade Nut-rituos.

Have you been doing subtle or bold looks this season?
Comment below, I'd love to know!
In the meantime, stay fab dolls!

Glen

Crowned.

Now that the initial move is complete I'm going to attempt to bring some normalcy back into my life. It was a seemingly smooth transition and we're excited to start this new chapter. Once we're all unpacked I hope to be able to give you guys a tour of our new home as well! This week I recorded a new makeup video, but due to some technical difficulties, I'll have to try again at a later time. Thank you all for being so patient with me as I take this one day at a time.

Glen

Cherry Blossoms in the Winter
I ended 2017 saying I wanted to do more. I needed my outlet back, and after a bunch of unfortunate events, I decided that there was no better time than now to start. As you can see from my last 2 blog posts I've been making YouTube videos! I definitely want to put it out there: I AM NOT A MAKEUP ARTIST! Honestly, I don't even want to be one. I just like makeup and I enjoy doing it, so I decided to start filming it. Three weeks ago I had no idea how to edit a video, and now I've kind of gotten the hang of it. To say I'm proud of myself would be such an understatement. I'm just trying to enjoy this clear space in my head. I've included this weeks video below, as well as the video details after the cut.
Thanks for sticking it out with me this long.

Glen

What to Buy: Bargain Beat
Hey loves! This blog post was requested by my beautiful friend Kisha, and I was more than happy to oblige. For you dolls that would like to experiment with makeup without completely breaking the bank, here are a few inexpensive items that can line your cosmetic bag and still give you a quality beat!
For the most part, e.l.f cosmetics offers everything you can think of, and almost all their products are priced below $10. I stand by their brushes 100%. They also offer a range of foundation, blush ,and contour palettes. Personally, their darkest shade is not dark enough for me to wear, but it would work for some of you brown ladies.
There are often stigmas around "drugstore brands" when it comes to makeup, but most of the items are just as good (if not better) than high-end brands. K-Mart, Wal-Mart, CVS, Walgreens and even your local hair stores can offer some great products. For my deep brown ladies, I recommend Covergirl Queen, IMAN, and Black Opal. They offer deep brown shades with undertones that actually compliment our skin, instead of leaving us pasty.
For my super oily skin, I use milk of magnesia as a primer. I apply it all over my face, under my foundation, to help soak up my oil throughout the day. As crazy as it sounds, IT WORKS! For luxurious lips, I love Colourpop's line of Ultra-Matte liquid lipsticks (they are only $6 a piece!). My favorites are LAX, Guess and Limbo. For concealer, L.A. Girl Pro Concealer can be found in hair stores, as well as drugstores and online. Their orange concealer is perfect for brown girls to color correct and their other shades are great for highlighting and contouring.
I've tried to provide links to all these products, but if you still have questions please feel free to contact me! I know how overwhelming make-up can be in the beginning, but a little trial and error and lots of practice will have you fab in no time!

Blended Beauty: My Routine Revealed
Yesterday I posted this picture on my FaceBook and instaGram and it was so well received I wanted to tell you guys what products were used. I honestly don't have an hour long makeup routine. I always start with my brows. I use MACs eyebrow pencil in STUD to fill my brows. I use a small concealer/eyeliner brush with a dab of MACs Pro Longwear concealer (NW50) and line ONLY THE BOTTOM of my eyebrows. I think a lot of people mis-use concealer and don't blend it properly. Personally, I use the brush the blend down from the brow and then my finger for the rest.
If I'm doing a "full face" (like pictured above) I soak my Beauty Blender in water and then dab it in concealer. I stipple from my under eye area to the corner in between my nose and mouth. Basically, a huge upside down triangle. This also helps define your cheeks. For foundation, I use Covergirl Queen Collection in shade Q755 with MACs 187 brush. It covers but still allows my skin to breathe. MAC and NARS both have proven too heavy to me. I use a MAC powder blush in FEVER for my cheekbones (and a flat kabuki brush to blend out the hard blush line) & then I add my lips. Yesterday, the lipstick of choice was MAC Ruby Woo with a Bobbi Brown lip gloss (that I don't remember the name of).
& thats it! Seriously. I'm nowhere near a professional makeup artist, but I've found what works for me. Hope this answered all the questions you guys had! But if it didn't, leave me a comment, and let me know!
Stay fab guys!

Seems like we've misplaced Spring..
Weather here in Central Texas has been up and down these past few weeks. One day, 34°, the next 78°! In all honestly, all you can do is take advantage of those nice days when you have them. The subject of my weight has been a bittersweet issue for me. When I was smaller, I wanted to be a little bigger in some areas. BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR! So the weight came, but it came everywhere. And while I tell myself that I won't lose it all at once (because I didn't gain it all at once) finding the motivation to even work out is half the battle. I honestly think the only thing keeping me at bay is that the Army makes me work out for an hour 5 days a week. For some reason though, I feel like when I put something on my blog, it makes me feel that much more obligated to stick with it, because now you guys are watching.
So here it is: I WANT TO LOSE 10-15 pounds! Wish me luck..

Windows to My Soul

I'm getting REALLY good at this eyebrow thing! I've been getting constant compliments at work because of it, and go figure 98% of them are from MALES! I guess they do pay attention. :) I only use a couple products to accomplish the perfect brow FOR ME: MAC brow pencil in STUD, MAC Select Cover-up Concealer and Estee Lauder e/s in MINK.

The picture above is for comparison purposes! My eyebrows are thin. Honestly, I've never had much of a brow so getting them arched or waxed would have did nothing for me. This is a really big deal for me! I feel like I get a little better with every time I fill them in. I was just too excited so I had to tell somebody! :)

Super Sunday!
Although I didn't go to church today (which I feel really bad about) I had a very fun and eventful day! It started when Jessica and I went to the Officer's club for their Sunday brunch (which I was too busy eating to snap any pictures of!) and then headed to the Post Exchange (PX) so I could pick up a couple things for my hair journey. This post will be a bit picture heavy. I want to apologize in advance for the picture quality; all photos were taken with my iPhone 4 since my camera has seemed to grow legs and run away from home!
I'm going to try this out and see if it helps control my oily skin.
Shisheido Oil Control Matifiant - $28.48
Since my Morning Burst review, I was recommended this product by Jessica.
Neutrogena Facial Bar - $2.49
ORS Replenishing Paks - $1.00 each
Detangling hair rake - $2.69
Ace Boar Bristle Brush - $5.99
This'll be the "moisture" in my moisturize and seal for my hair regimen.
ORS Moisturizing Hair Lotion - $3.49
This'll be my clarifying shampoo in my hair regimen.
ORS Olive Oil & Aloe Shampoo - $4.98
Covergirl Queen Collection Concealer in Cocoa Cocoa - $5.99
I'll be using this as "heavy protien" for my protein treatments.
ORS Hair Mayonnaise - $7.59
Goody Bobby pins in black - $.99
Goody Ouchless elastics in black - $2.99
Goody hair pins in black - $2.29
This'll be the 1/2 of the "seal" in my moisturize and seal.
ORS Coconut Oil - $3.89
This'll be the other 1/2.
ORS Carrot Oil - $5.99
I'll need to order the Leave-In counterpart to this online; it wasnt available at the PX.
Herbal Essences Long Term Relationship Conditioner - $3.20
Since I read Lorraine's review on this product I've been searching for it high and low! I was so excited when I finally found it today.
Pond's Cold Cream - $5.10
Once my son is here and I start maternity leave, I plan to have Spring/Summer nails!
Sally Hansen Insta-dri in #470 Speedy Sunburst - $3.21
