Santa's Secret Helpers

With Christmas only days away, my company came together last Friday for a barbecue. We were able to step away from our offices for a bit, and relax. It's been warm here in Texas so we met at Big Jake's Barbecue, along with our families, and even had "Secret Santa"! I received a Scentsy from one of my coworkers, complete with lavender scented waxes.

I'm always excited to spend the holidays snuggled with my favorite person, and this year we even have an Elf on the Shelf! Jeremy named him Crawford! Really, what 4 year old comes up with the name Crawford?! Anyway, its fun seeing him hop out of bed every morning to see if Crawford has gotten into any trouble during the previous night, or to see if he's left him any messages. I'm having so much fun with this entire thing. Are you guys starting any traditions this year?! I'd love to know!

4 more days!

...To Be Alive

Does this #ootd look familiar?! If it doesn't, scroll down one post. In this post I wanted to show how you can transition an ensemble and easily go from chic to super comfy/casual. By simply letting my hair down, untucking my top and swapping my heels for my super comfy 6" wheat Timberland boots I think I accomplished just that!

What do you guys think?!

What a time..

This weekend was a good one for us. It was filled with one of our favorite things: FOOD! Jeremy and I attended Texarkana's Front Street Food Festival. I was told that it will be the first of many. We ate a "Fall off the Bone" turkey leg, complete wit Hennessy glazed potatoes, corn on the cob and a roll. Then before we left, we got one of Mother Kelly's cheeseburgers with a side of loaded fries. It was just an overall nice time.

With this #ootd I mixed highs and lows to accommodate the temperature change we've been experiencing lately. I recently purchased this denim shirt from one of my favorite stores, Ross. My jeans are from Express; they're the high rise leggings and these beautiful sandals are by Steve Madden via DSW. I'll include a link below. What did you guys do this weekend?! How are you preparing for fall?! Leave me a comment below!

Twenty Seven

Yesterday was my big day: I turned 27 years old! I'm so grateful to have seen another year, and I'm ecstatic for everything my family and I have accomplished thus far. Jeremy's been doing great in school and I'm just at a point in my life where I'm thankful. I couldn't begin to explain how content I am with life at this very moment. Really, I'm hoping that this bliss lasts forever. Be great, guys.

...with Fall's Approach

If you follow me on Instagram (or Twitter) then these photos may not be new to you. They are from my son's "Meet the Teacher" night that occured the Sunday prior to him starting school. We met the faculty and had a chance to sit down with his teacher individually to clear the air on any questions or concerns you had prior to the start of school. His teacher, Ms. Claire, was welcoming and I'm sure Jeremy will be the perfect fit for her class. For this event, I wanted to be comfortable, yet classy. Hope I did it right! & one of these days I'm going to remember to get a close up of these sandals for you guys, because they are absolutely gorgeous!

Pint-sized Scholar

The time has finally arrived: Jeremy has started Pre-K! Today was day three. He's adjusting to being in such a structured environment, and at the end of each day he can't wait to go back. His teacher, Mrs. Claire, absolutely adores him, as he does her. In the mornings, he cant wait to see her! I'm just ecstatic that he's this enthusiastic about school and learning in general. Here's to a great school year!

Greener Grass

It is with the greatest pleasure that I announce to you guys that I passed my E-6 promotion board! Now, before we start celebrating, the actual promotion is still a ways off. There's this entire process that goes into getting promoted, and quite frankly I'm just not there yet. I've started the process, though. I've also completed another HUGE milestone: I made my final car payment! That baby parked outside is MINE! This past month has just been so good to me. It feels good to have all the hard work pay off. & with all the madness finally over, hopefully there will be more blogs in the future!

red, white & blue!

How adorable are these shots from the 4th of July?! I was ecstatic when my photographer finally got back to me with these! I couldn't wait to show them to you guys. Jeremy was so excited that day to go to the "donut factory" ever since he saw one on Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood. Of course, I took him to the Krispy Kreme in Shreveport, Louisiana. With their HOT NOW display, it was the closest thing I could think of! Their donuts truly are made with love. Want to know my guilty pleasure?! A dozen glaze! (c:

My decor destination

Recently, I feel as if I've gotten my second wind in relation to decor. I've been moving pieces all around the apartment. Yay for finally finding enough strength and motivation to hop back on the decor train! In the above photo,  I moved the side table and books from the living room and the orchid from the kitchen.

To finish the apartment, I need:
  • a desk/workspace
  • a dresser
  • wall hangings in the living room
  • wall hanging in the bedroom

I feel like there's an end in sight! That list is so tiny, it's unreal. Currently, with no workspace I've got my MacBook on the kitchen table. I've found the perfect inspiration post via Pinterest and I can not wait to make it come to life. I currently have my eyes on a dresser and with a few modifications, it'll be exactly what I need. I'm excited! What projects are you guys currently working on?! Leave a comment below and let me know!

Summertime Sunshine ☀︎

This weekend Jeremy and I had the first of many sessions with an up and coming Ark-La-Tex photographer and I couldn't be more satisfied with our photos! As he continues to build his portfolio and fine tune the details of his brand (name, logo) there may be some type of feature in the future. We shall see. (c:

These were taken at the gorgeous Spring Lake Park in Texarkana, Texas at what seemed like the perfect time of day for a photo shoot. Lighting was perfect! and I bet it didn't hurt to have some pretty good-looking models, either! lol (c: Hope you guys enjoy these photos as much as we enjoyed taking them:

May Flowers

Tommy Hilfiger polo | Levi jeans | Vans sneakers
I always feel refreshed in the month of May. It may have something to do with the fact that two of my most favorite people in the entire world celebrate birthdays in this month! On the 14th, my darling baby boy, Jeremy turned FOUR YEARS OLD! How exciting is that?! My baby is 4. Wow. And in the upcoming school year, he'll be in pre-kindergarten with the St. James Day School of Texarkana. He makes me so proud to be a mommy, because he really is an awesome little boy.

My son shares his birth month with his uncle, my baby brother Glenn! ♥ & his birthday is actually today. Let me take a moment to share his accomplishments: currently a US Virgin Islands National Guard soldier and full time college student. He is also a certified wheeled vehicle mechanic. He's doing very well for himself and I couldn't be prouder of him!

Can you tell why I absolutely adore them both?!

The Rededication

Overalls: H&M | Top: Ross | Sandals: Zara
Hey dolls! First, I feel like I need to apologize for neglecting my blog. I'm taking a pledge to be more consistent. Blogging allows me an outlet that I otherwise wouldnt have, and so I plan to take full advantage of that. I've also resorted to using my almost 4 year old (12 days!) son as a photographer, lol! I'm currently on the hunt for the missing piece to my tripod, in hopes that I can jumpstart my outfit posts again. I also need to will myself out of the bed on my off days! With that being said, I'm getting my blog ideas together to start bombarding you guys with posts! :)

#flowerchild

I know! It's been over a month! I've been preparing for my promotion board, enlisting qualified youth into the world's greatest Army, and balancing life in general. Sometimes it gets overwhelming trying to balance it all, but I am lucky to have surrounded myself with people who truly love me and at the end of the day couldn't be more grateful. Lately, I've been taking advantage of this beautiful weekend weather here in Texarkana. I force myself into real outfits and venture out. This past weekend Jeremy and I were able to go see "Home" in theaters. Such a beautifully made movie! Lately, its been hard to blog bc I don't have anyone over 3 feet tall to take my pictures, lol. I'm trying to make due, tho. Until next time, be blessed.

Happiness is Black & White

This weekend I was able to take some time to myself and go to a "real" mall (no shade to Texarkana, lol) and do what I do best! H&M has yet to do me wrong, so I've been a loyal customer since I found them in Germany. I was able to get Jeremy a ton of pieces and I just felt at home. Retail therapy is very real. Anyway, I just had a really good day. Currently we're snowed in and I'm enjoying the days off.

Kisses,

The Pen is Mightier

Jeremy's current destination in his journey to accelerated learning is here: writing! For Christmas, his aunt got him these dry erase flash cards that have proven very handy! Jeremy is able to trace each letter of the alphabet multiple times and then attempt the letters free hand. On the back of each card there's also a word that corresponds with that letter. Personally, I feel this is a vital step in development. So many children these days are not being taught adequate penmanship, cursive or even to sign their names. I more than plan to instill those things into my own son. At 3 years old, Jeremy is more than ready for Kindergarten (in my opinion, lol)! Here's the beginning of a beautiful thing:

New Year. Same Me.

First things first: HAPPY NEW YEAR you guys! It's 2015!! With my hours at work I feel like I have no time to blog! My weekends are usually filled with slumming around the house with Jeremy, eating cereal out the box. Connecting with teenagers enough to get them to want to join the United States Army isn't as easy as it looks. Seeing as failure is not an option, hopefully I'll have something positive to blog about in the next few weeks. Hope all is well.
