Memorial Day Weekend '11

Apart from all the new moving parts in my life, I've been really lazy about posting. I mean, I've wanted too,    I just never got around to it. I'm sure you know the feeling. Today was Jeremy's 2 week check up so I have a few photos from that, as well as Jessica's daughter's birthday party this past Saturday. Since the ORG Day, my thighs and calves have been cramping like no other, so I've been in bed a lot. I think that all the walking I did that day took it's toll on me, because I've seriously never felt pain like that! I was ready to chop my legs off! ugh, anyway, it's getting better now so I'm happy.

  • THESE ARE FROM TODAY:

We were wearing sweaters (:

Wet Seal sweater

These shorts don't photograph well for some reason. They were cuter in person.

Steve Madden sandals

We got this for Jeremy today and he absolutely LOVES IT!

  • THESE ARE FROM SATURDAY:

Someone took their first bath since the umbilical cord fell off!

The birthday girl, Elay'jah.

How'd you spend your Memorial Day Weekend?!

Thrifting?!

For some reason thrifting and thrift stores have always had a negative connotation to me, but as of late I think I'm having a change of heart. Some of my favorite bloggers find the most gorgeous pieces and hidden gems in thrift stores! I'm not sure where one is close to me, but maybe when I'm back stateside I'll pop in too one and see what I can find! Wish me luck..

Model Model

Today was ORGanization Day (ORG Day) for my unit. It's basically where all the Batteries (Companies) compete against each other in all types of sporting events (basketball, softball, soccer, volleyball, IRON man). Hubby played in the basketball tournament for his company and even though they lost, Jeremy and I were right there on the sidelines cheering on. No photos of me, I really wasn't in a mood to be photographed today (although my hair looked FABULOUS). I'm still very sore from giving birth so sitting down all day did nothing for me. Eventually, I packed up Jeremy and went home.

My little model (my adorable son, Jeremy ❤) is so alert! I love snapping pictures of him. I try to capture everything he does, lol. Sue me, I'm a new mom. :) These are a couple of photos I snapped of him yesterday:

Today is also my little brother's 15th birthday. He's my right hand and even though I'm devastated that I couldn't be at home for his birthday, I know he'll have a great time. Here's a photo of me and him on Christmas Day 2010:

Baby OOTD?!

With the amount of stuff my son gets in the mail, I'm seriously contemplating doing OOTD for him! lol, is that a bit much?! I mean, I don't think so, but then again I'm his mother. Either way, Jeremy got a package in the mail today from gorgeous cousin Thalia! Here's all the adorable things he got:

s/n: Apologies for the lack of posts. Unfortunately, I'm the only person dedicated to my blog and it's very hard to take pictures of yourself if you don't have the right hardware. My husband is WAY TOO IMPATIENT to be considered as a full time photographer so I have to make do. I'll still try my absolute best to keep posting though!

Family First

Today my unit hosted a family oriented fun day called Springfest. It was a gorgeous day out so we got Jeremy dressed in this Winnie the Pooh coveralls and took him out. By the way, today marks a week since my wonderful son arrived! Anyway, there was a dunk tank, bouncy castles, free food and even a chance for you to pie members of your Chain of Command in the face! I actually pied my First Sergeant in the face today (I don't go back to work for another 5 weeks anyway, lol)! Jeremy pretty much slept threw everything, but it was nice to be out the house. Once Springfest winded down, we decided to take Jeremy downtown for the rest of the day.

ShoeDazzle.com

ShoeDazzle.com

If you consider yourself a lover of all things trendy, but aren't familiar with ShoeDazzle.com you should be ashamed of yourself! I first came across this site about a year and a half ago, but I was way too impatient back then to complete the style assessment. Here's how the site works:
  • You make selections of shoes, handbags and accessories to create your style profile.
  • A personalized "showroom" is then created for you by the featured stylist.
  • All items on Shoe Dazzle are $39.95 (yes, even handbags and accessories).
  • Every month you are charged $39.95; You can skip payment if nothing "dazzles" you that month.
As I said before, all items are $39.95, even things like foot petals or necklace/earring sets. Items like that I wouldn't suggest purchasing, but hey, that's only my opinion. The shipping was fairly fast, even though my account isnt that accurate; my mail takes longer to get to me because I live overseas. The packaging was also so adorable! At any rate, here's the pair I ordered:

Introducing: Jeremy D. Nick ❤

My son is finally here! I can't tell you guys how excited, happy, and relieved I feel! I have so many different feelings and emotions welling up inside. Above all though, PRIDE is at the top of the list. I am the mother of a beautiful baby boy!

My water "broke" at about 11:45pm on Friday, May 13, 2011. If you notice, the word broke is in quotations. That's because my water didn't actually brake; it ruptured. So instead of a gush of fluid, I had a trickle. I literally couldn't tell if my water had broken or I was peeing on myself, lol. I wasn't in any other pain or having contractions so I called the hospital. They told me to come in so they could check it out..

Since I wasn't in any pain, I drove myself to the hospital. My friend Julie came with me, because she was SURE that my water had broken. When we got to the hospital, they tested the fluid and determined that my water had in fact broken. I was admitted and spent the rest of the night in a nice painless sleep. The next morning the doctors decided to put Oxytocin in my IV to help me dilate. My husband & I had made the decision to have a natural birth, so the Oxytocin was supposed to help. It did NOTHING but make me woozy. After HOURS of pain, I gave in, requested an epidural and it was smooth sailing from then on.

The epidural was so effective, the nurse had to tell me when I was contracting and when I should push. My labor went unbelievably smooth: I didn't feel my son being born AT ALL. I literally looked down and the Doctor was holding him! Of course, my first reaction was to start crying. (: I still cant believe it: I'm a mommy! There truly isn't any other love like this.. I'll put my life on it.

& he gets the girl...

Today at lunch I stopped by the PX to pick up our Easter/Maternity pics and decided to pick up a couple extra things (including frames for said pictures). I look so chunky in them, lol:

Like I said before, I also picked up some random stuff:

I wanted to get the organic products they carried in the PX, but I also don't want to overdo it & give my son unnecessary rashes and things. I ended up sticking with the basics.

A moisturizing shampoo and conditioner to add to my regimen.
V05 Moisture Milks - $.81 a piece!

I've heard how these Diaper Pails work wonders with dirty diapers so I picked one up as well! Its the Munchkin/Arm & Hammer edition. I threw out the box before I remembered to snap a picture of it. ):

& so here I was being a Bitter Betty thinking that my husband hadn't gotten me anything for Mother's Day (even though I'm not TECHNICALLY a mother yet) when in reality my present was held up in shipping! I'd dropped the hint to him about the jewelry box I blogged about in my Mother's Day Wishlist post and had hoped that he'd gotten it for me, but he'd never said anything about it! Well, I checked the mail today and it was here! I'm very pleased with it. It was exactly what I wanted:
